Otto and Amalka

It's 16:04 and I went into work late today because I forgot to set my alarm but I had a very plausible excuse and I think I'm going to get paid anyway for the 1.5 hours that I was not wrangling with kids this morning.

I brought my camera to work today, but I can't find my xD memory card so I can only record onto my camera's measly internal memory, which yielded the following photographs and videos of Otto, my favorite kid, and Amalka, the best English-speaker and my favorite girl in the class.

Otto's thing is he doesn't speak English, ever, or ever listen to anyone speaking Czech either. During any organized activity, he will be standing five feet outside the imaginary boundary of where-you're-supposed-to-be and spin around in circles going "pwoooosh" with his lips. He dressed up like Batman for most of the day today.

Amalka's thing is she's really smart but would rather steal my hat and run around the room than practice English or show off her abilities. Her other favorite thing is to take a leg, leaving the other free for her best friend Simi, and sit on my foot until I walk around like an angry tree with beetles in my roots. This, she giggles at uncontrollably, and it is hard not to fall over, especially when Otto comes careening out of nowhere, head down, arms pumping, into my torso, golden cape flapping and ninja-hiyah-ing into oblivion. When I find/replace my xD card, I promise there will be videos of these things. For now, enjoy:

Otto growls

(I forgot to mention that Otto is a rapacious eater, and cleans his plate by whatever means necessary and available.)

(Bird's eye view.)

The Mad Ottobot

Now to upload my impromptu photo shoot from last week. See you in a bit~

Children! And they're all blond!

I'm happy you now have a source of income and aren't going to starve. I was worried.

Loves you.

PS. Tell Megan I saw her doppelganger working in Whole Foods the other day. The similarity was so striking that I entertained the notion that Megan didn't like Prague and decided to come back..and work in a Whole Foods....?

PPS. I'm going to install Skype on my Mac very soon, promiz!

they are so cute! but i feel like if their parents found these videos on the internet they might be a little unsettled. i would kind of freak out if someone was videotaping my kid without permission. i am such a buzzkill, i know. doesn't mean i won't look when more stuff is posted because holy jeez they're adorable. i want to get a cool computer like yours so i can use it to take pictures of me when i read your posts the way you take pictures of you when you write them. i tripped up some stairs on the way into connor today and just totally face planted, and came down hard on my bag, which contained my computer, sans protective covering. i was hoping i broke the screen so i could get this piece of crap replaced, but no such luck. the people who saw me must've thought i was insane when i was like "oh fuck... OMG YES" and scrambled to get my computer out and turn it on to see if it broke, only to revert back to "oh fuck" when i saw that it was fine. ::le sigh:: i'm so jealous of your superior technology. misses yoo!
