Which pre-school?
A NEW ONE!
I thought I had a job at the Orangery school, but then I got this email:
Hello Alex,
I am sorry we finally decided to hire someone else who has more experience with working with children but I recommended you to my friend who is a supervisor in a different english preschool and she will contact you if you are still interested.- Hide quoted text -
Have a good day,
Aja
..which kind of killed it for me. But Aja came through on her word and I now have an interview at, uh, "Bead School" is the name of the place. According to the woman hiring (Marketa),
The job is 25 hours a week, first month salary is 13000 and every month after
14000. This is how much you will take home. Overtime hours are
available if you're interested in further work.
..which made the deal for me.
I've actually got another potential job in the works -- voice acting for the English dub of a video game called Armed Assault 2. Guess what I have to do? I have to read some lines and then I get rejected or cast depending on how good I do! Check out the lines I have to read, hehe.
In other news...
*chorus of angels singing*
I went to IKEA on Sunday, and it was literally the only thing I did all day. Want to know what I got?!? PILLOWCASES AND A PILLOW AND A RUG AND A BLANKET AND A BEDSHEET AND CANDLES FOR THE BATHROOM I got. Megan picked out and paid for half of them. Now we have a real room. IKEA is the Wal-Mart/Sam's Club/Home Depot substitude in Prague -- they have everything and everything is in Swedish, which, if you thought trying to decipher Czech was hard, Swedish is hard. They even have an IKEA cafe on the second floor, with IKEA-brand food. Oh! and they have this little kid's play-pen area for parents who want to drop off their kids for peace and quite during shopping, and the kid's area was AMAZING, like, the entrace was fashioned to look like you're walking into a giant over-turned wicker basket, and inside there's a ball-pit like at McDonald's, and these fabric trees hanging from the ceiling you can climb into and a SPIDER WEB IN THE CORNER you can climb on YES! I will go back (believe me) and take pictures soon. I can't find the card to my camera (and Megan lost the other card to her camera -- grrr) so I am reduced to limited picture-taking capacity for the moment.
Also the new Deerhoof album is out on the Internet, Offend Maggie, and it's all I plan to listen to for the duration of my stay here.
Megan and I have slowly been taking over Chris's stuff. Every time we find a little article or piece of electronic equipment laying around, one of us will go, "Hey, Chris? Could I use this [headphone jack/cell phone/old iPod/etc.]?" and he goes 'yah sure' and then hey we have new computer speakers or something. I found an iPod nano, I think it was, or something, with a broken HOLD button, so it's unfortunately worthless.
Also I just found this:
Lolwtf.

don't you think people will be a little unsettled if some 20something guy is wandering around taking pictures of the kid's play area at ikea? and omg DUH, ikea, they are bringing one to charlotte and i am pissing myself in anticipation because their furniture (which is mostly what they are known for) is awesome and not overpriced and when i get my own place IT WILL BE STRICTLY IKEA
Of course, the second I stop reading your blog you give me a shout out. How lovely...
And I think you're the last person on the planet to discover how AWESOME Ikea truly is. CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO ONE, EEEE.
K
you know, it's redundant to say "a.m." if you've just used 24-hour time. pick one.
