is finally nice.
No, not nice. Perfect. It's like Chapel Hill-perfect, Weaver Street lawn-perfect weather right now. Megan and I put Hobbes in his brand new cat harness and leash and took him on a walk to a small park. But Hobbes is an indoor cat, so the harness and leash were unnecessary, as the sheer horror of being out-of-doors put him into an almost catatonic (hah) state of immobility. He just sat there, as did we, and it was lovely. Lovely.
Now I'm at work, where the front of the store has been recently gutted and re-fit with cafe tables and chairs to replace the bulky and ugly wastes of space that used to clog the front. Now it feels like I'm in a sunny European bistro. It's also lovely.
Megan and I are going to host a couchsurfer tonigtht who is coming to Prague to see Obama. He's speaking in front of Prague Castle at 10 a.m. Sunday, which Megan and I want to get there at 6 a.m. because the gates open at 7 a.m. and there will probably be a big crowd. We will have an interesting night, because I am working until 4:30 p.m. and then I am coming back to work at 10 p.m. to close the store for Julia, so she can have a drink with her friends from Germany, which means I'll be getting off work around 1:30 a.m. tonight, and UNC plays at around 3:00 a.m. tonight, which means when the game is over it'll be about 5:00 a.m. which gives us plenty of time to make it to the castle by 6. And I don't think I'll be sleepy, because I slept from 8:00 p.m. last night until 6:00 a.m.
I am also going to buy a bicycle for 2000 crowns, I think. It's time for it.
Also I finished 2666 a few days ago and it is very worth the time it takes to read. Also I just sold a copy of Finnegans Wake to a non-native English speaker. Will they be able to understand it (any worse than everyone else?)?
I submitted my story about Zorion to the Glimmer Train Fiction Open contest, under the title "Ice Floes." I think it's a good title -- I came up with it on the spot, as I was submitting, and I think it matches the story quite well. I am going to post the story to my fiction blog, zerowhitenoises now. If you haven't read it, please do!
Okay time to go bye!
